Rapture

Artformz presents RAPTURE, a celebration of change and possibilities, as expressed by artists Natasha Duwin & Henning Haupt sharing an exciting capacity to express very complex ideas poetically.

Henning Haupt’s color-space paintings were completed after relocating from Berlin to Fort Lauderdale in 2008. His work is informed by this transition to the subtropical climate combined with the troubling idea of how its wonders might transform under the current influence of ecological disaster. His series of paintings and drawings develop a lyrical theme celebrating the rapture of change. Henning studied architecture and painting in Germany and the United States, at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts, Michigan. In 2008 he completed his PhD in the field of design methods, titled Experiments in Color – Integration of painted color spaces in an architectural design process. This praxis-based research explored his paintings and three-dimensional objects. After teaching at the Technical University at Braunschweig, Germany from 2001 to 2007, he moved from Berlin to South Florida. Haupt is teaching architectural design and seminars on the relationship between color, painting and architecture at the Florida Atlantic University in Fort Lauderdale, where he located his painting studio. His work has been exhibited extensively in Berlin and now South Florida.

Natasha Duwin’s work is an elaboration of ideas related to the female condition, using traditionally feminine techniques and non-traditional materials, such as metal and organic matter. The richness of her works mixing soft fibers with metal structure involves the viewer in a sensuous visual experience. The needlework does not call attention to itself, yet it manages to create a new environment, one of truly realized possibilities rapture indeed! Natasha Duwin was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has since lived in New York, Tokyo and Miami. She has shown extensively over the last couple of years, is included in several prominent collections, holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Florida International University, and is also an Artist-in-Residence at ArtCenter South Florida.
