The future of cancer control and health system strengthening is interconnected, personalized, adaptable to new knowledge, and essential to achieving universal health coverage.

The panel will cover the following key topics:

– The Cancer And Health Systems Approach: Highlight how addressing cancer-specific challenges can simultaneously strengthen health systems.

– Cancer Burden: Focusing on redefining our understanding of its complexity and how this should shape desired outcomes. We will introduce a global collaborative study capturing people’s perspectives of the cancer burden using an interactive online dashboard.

– A Value Approach to Investing in Cancer: Analyse the global and multi-dimensional costs and benefits of reducing the cancer burden with data from a pilot study in Mexico and Peru for select cancers covering out-of-pocket expenses and the value of alleviating suffering.
