Coming March 2026, Akris is pleased to announce the relocation of its boutique to a new home in the prestigious Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Florida. Positioned prominently on the first-floor corner, the boutique debuts Akris’ refined architectural store concept, created in collaboration with David Chipperfield Architects Milan.
The elegantly proportioned 1,300-square-foot space will feature the latest collections from Akris, Akris punto, and Akris accessories.
Following the opening of the first prototype store in Washington D.C. and subsequent boutiques in Tokyo’s Ginza district and Chicago, the Bal Harbour location evolves the architectural language established in these earlier projects. The key themes of suspension, lightness, and material precision are transposed here, continuing the design vocabulary originally developed with David Chipperfield Architects Milan.
Consequently, all the display elements are intentionally reduced to the minimum—taut cables support shelves and hangers, giving the impression of floating pieces. The walls and ceilings, clad in white-painted maple paneling, follow a gentle zig-zagging profile to create a three-dimensional yet neutral backdrop, complemented by grey limestone flooring that lends a calm presence to the space.
In keeping with Akris’ dedication to architectural integrity and craftsmanship, the Bal Harbourboutique establishes a space that balances modern transparency with timeless materiality. The boutique’s corner location and intentionally understated façade create a calm and exclusive atmosphere. Soft natural light enhances the serene ambience, reflecting both the elegance of the Akris aesthetic and the tropical sophistication of Bal Harbour.
Fitting rooms are lined with ivory horsehair fabric, an Akris signature, and grey mélange cashmere wool, adding texture and warmth that echo the house’s devotion to exquisite materials. The harmonious interplay of light, natural materials, and thoughtful geometry exemplifies Akris’ precision and vision of effortless modernity.
