“A force of nature, subtle, graceful and powerful but never out of control.” – The Boston Globe

During her anticipated Arsht Center debut, MERCHANT will wow South Florida fans with a fresh and riveting orchestral concert featuring a 38-piece symphony ensemble playing hits from previous records such as Retrospective and Tigerlilly, as well as songs from latest highly-acclaimed album Leave Your Sleep.

NATALIE MERCHANT was instrumental in defining and popularizing college rock in the 80s and early 90s as lead vocalist and lyricist for pop music band 10,000 Maniacs. In 1994, MERCHANT made a major transformation by launching her solo career and gained a solid reputation as a prolific songwriter with a unique artistic vision and performing style. Most recently, MERCHANT has embarked on a new artistic path, creating songs from literary inspiration, which are composed for expanded musical ensembles and orchestra. Her new music has “never sounded quite so right as it did framed by flutes, a weaving clarinet, and a gentle harp” (The Boston Globe).
