Birding expert to speak at Bird Day at Fairchild

David Allen Sibley has delivered key-note speeches to numerous groups of birders over the years and has led bird-watching expeditions most notably for New York City residents in Central Park. Now South Floridians will have the opportunity to hear Mr. Sibley speak locally. On Sunday, October 9, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has the honor of hosting Mr. Sibley at its annual Bird Day at Fairchild where he will lead a talk at 1:00 p.m. entitled, Sibley’s Birding Basics.

About David Allen Sibley

In 2000, The Sibley Guide to Birds, was published. This book was the realization of a lifelong dream for David Allen Sibley, who began painting birds when he was seven years old and has continued painting them for over three decades. The book contains over 6,600 original illustrations by Sibley, now recognized as Americas leading ornithologist/illustrator.

The Sibley Guide to Birds became the fastest selling bird book in history, earning author David Allen Sibley the moniker the Beatle of birding among the press. Stories about Sibley have run in The New York Times, Audubon, Time, and Science, and the author has appeared on ABC World News Tonight and on NPRs Science Friday and The Connection.
