In celebration of National Dog Day on August 26, we’ve rounded up a collection of hotels in South FL where travelers and their four-legged companions can enjoy memorable getaways together. According to the American Pet Products Association, 87% of dog owners who travel with their dogs took a road trip with them in the past year, highlighting the continued demand for pet-friendly accommodations.

GREATER MIAMI & MIAMI BEACH

There’s no shortage of places for pups to play in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. Let them roam leash-free at Haulover Dog Beach, cool off in the shallow waters of Hobie Island Beach, wander the shaded paths of Coconut Grove or join you at one of Wynwood’s many pet-friendly patios. Across the causeway, Miami Beach’s Bark Beaches in South Beach, Mid-Beach and North Beach offer designated hours for seaside play, giving dogs just as many reasons to love the destination as much as their owners.

The Betsy – South Beach’s Canine Executive Officers

A Michelin Key hotel in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco Historic District, The Betsy goes beyond typical pet-friendly accommodations by weaving a love of animals into its culture. The family-owned hotel is home to resident golden retrievers, Canine Executive Officers Betsy and Rosa, along with Daisy, a rescued German shepherd and leader of the family pack. Guests can meet the beloved pups during the hotel’s weekly Friday happy hour and throughout the week as they make their daily rounds. Dogs of all sizes are welcome and are offered house-made dog treats at the front desk. A one-time pet fee includes a 50% donation to the Harare SPCA, an animal welfare organization in Zimbabwe, homeland of the hotel’s co-owner and art curator, Lesley Goldwasser. The hotel offers a complimentary Waggo dog bed for a cozy night’s sleep, Waggo water or food bowls, and a treat at the reception upon check-in.

Paws & Play at Hotel Continental

Hotel Continental rolls out the red carpet for tail-wagging companions, who receive a Pup Passport highlighting dog-friendly dining, parks, grooming and waterfront walks, plus a welcome kit with branded bowls, plush bedding, treats, grooming wipes and a keepsake toy.

The Goodtime Hotel in South Beach, just steps from the beach and South of Fifth, welcomes up to two dogs per room, plus a curated itinerary featuring pet-friendly dining and nearby walking spots. Parks nearby, including Washington Dog Park & Annex, offer space to play.

Lincoln Road

Although it’s not a hotel, Lincoln Road, Miami Beach’s iconic pedestrian promenade, is within walking distance of many of the hotels mentioned above. A popular destination where pups are seen walking their parents day and night, the district is home to dozens of alfresco dining options and tons of stores, most of which will let you bring your dog inside as long as they’re leashed. Stop by Bonefly, where you can find luxury supplies ranging from crystal bone collars to quilt-patterned harnesses, or The Dog Bar, which carries unique beds, outfits, gifts and treats for furbabies.

Art, Walkability and Pet-Friendly Adventures at Arlo Wynwood

Experience Miami’s creative side with your pup at Arlo Wynwood, located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District, where guests can explore colorful murals, dog-friendly cafés and open-air breweries. Arlo Wynwood also partners with D.O.G. Hotels Wynwood to offer exclusive savings on pet services.

Luxe Leash Life at The Elser Hotel & Residences

The Elser Hotel & Residences, a 49-story luxury tower in Downtown Miami featuring 646 residential-style rooms, pampers pups from the second they arrive with local treats. A pet concierge is also available in partnership with WagSpot, offering grooming, dog boarding and vet services. At nearby Bayfront Park, dogs can play in a fenced recreation space with shaded trees, a water fountain and double-gated entry.
