Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, in partnership with County officials and Miami International Airport CEO Ralph Cutié, officially broke ground on Concourse K, a transformative 300,000-square-foot expansion set to open in 2029. The project will feature six new gates, post-security dining and shopping, a passenger lounge, and state-of-the-art infrastructure upgrades, all designed to meet rising travel demand.
This is MIA’s first major terminal expansion since 2012 and is a key component of the $9 billion Future-Ready Modernization plan, which aims to support 77 million passengers by 2040. Funded largely through federal grants and airport revenue bonds, Concourse K will also prioritize sustainability, earning LEED Silver certification.
This milestone underscores Miami’s commitment to a modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly airport, ensuring it remains a global travel hub for decades to come.
