
Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management has appointed luxury cruise veteran Larry Pimentel as its first-ever Distinguished Executive-in-Residence for Cruise. Recognized as a key industry leader, Pimentel’s career spans over three decades, including leadership roles at Azamara, SeaDream Yacht Club, Cunard, Seabourn, and founding Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings.
This historic appointment underscores Miami’s status as the global cruise capital, home to major lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line. Pimentel will collaborate with industry leaders to develop advanced cruise education and mentorship programs, elevating FIU’s role in maritime hospitality leadership.
Additionally, Pimentel will help establish a Cruise Advisory Board, fostering industry-university collaboration to drive innovation and global impact.
