The Latin Recording Academy® and Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® announced Chilean music educator Luciana Ortega as the first-ever recipient of the Latin Music Educator Award. Recognized for over a decade of inspiring over 400 high school students through a holistic Latin music curriculum, Ortega’s school will receive a $10,000 instrument donation.

Ortega will be honored at the Special Awards Presentation during the 26th Latin GRAMMY Week in Las Vegas, where she will also receive an all-expense-paid trip. Chosen from a competitive global pool, Ortega’s award celebrates her dedication to integrating Latin music as a tool for identity, culture, and societal transformation.

A former student of the very school she now teaches at, Ortega’s life work embodies the power of music to foster community, healing, and cultural pride.
