Jorge and Darlene Pérez Extend $1M Gift to FIU Honors College, Supporting Future Leaders

FIU

South Florida philanthropists Jorge and Darlene Pérez, through the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation, have donated an additional $1 million to fully endow their Scholars Endowment at FIU’s Honors College. Established in 2018 with an initial $1 million gift, the endowment has supported 26 students with merit- and need-based scholarships since 2019.

The new funds permanently sustain the Jorge and Darlene Pérez Scholars Scholarship for top undergraduates and the Excellence Award for recent graduates pursuing advanced studies. Darlene Pérez, an FIU alumna, emphasizes the family’s ongoing commitment to education and community impact.

The Pérez family’s philanthropy extends beyond scholarships, including donations of art collections and funding for public policy research, reflecting their dedication to transformative education and community service in South Florida.
