Museum Circle Preview: Elliot & Erick Jiménez: El Monte

Join artists Elliot & Erick Jiménez and Associate Curator Maritza M. Lacayo for a special reception and exclusive preview of their first solo museum exhibition. Identical twins and first-generation Cuban-Americans, Elliot & Erick Jiménez (b. 1989, Miami) were born and raised in Miami by Cuban immigrants and now reside between Miami and New York. Their photographic practice began from an early passion for art history and influences derived from a spiritual upbringing and exposure to Lucumí—a syncretic religion that combines both Yoruba and Catholic imagery. Inspired by paintings, their work portrays the ephemeral nature of light and color through experimental photographic techniques.
