New World School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts under the baton of the newest NWSA music faculty, Dr. Grant Gilman, making his Arsht Center debut with the NWSA Symphony. Dr. Gilman will guide the musicians through an array of masterworks, including Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, with lush melodies and lively rhythms, Beethoven’s bold and energetic Egmont Overture, and Barber’s Adagio for Strings, a timeless piece filled with rich and expressive sounds. A highlight in the program will be when renowned cellist Andrei Ioniță, winner of the 2015 Tchaikovsky International Competition, performs the intricate and exuberant Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations. “This is a concert not to miss,” said Dr. Daniel Andai, NWSA Dean of Music. “Dr. Gilman has proven to be an energetic, compassionate, and committed artist and faculty. Our guest artist is a masterful soloist and I am certain that all in attendance will enjoy this evening of music. These are the types of collaborations and musical offerings that make New World School of the Arts unique and special; talented students, a great conductor, a world-class soloist, all happening blocks from the campus in a wonderful hall based in our hometown.”
