LIVE2TELL, a project documenting the testimonies of the last living Holocaust survivors, hosted an intimate evening reception last night at the New World Symphony to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The event spotlighted the urgent mission of LIVE2TELL: preserving and amplifying the testimonies of the last living Holocaust survivors for future generations. Projections were also displayed at various locations across Miami Beach, including on the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach.

Gillian Laub, a critically-acclaimed photographer and director, created LIVE2TELL to document the testimony of survivors while we still have the chance. The reception brought together survivors photographed for the project, alongside a dynamic group of supporters from creative, cultural, and advocacy spaces.

Guests were moved by a series of powerful portraits taken by Laub and a stunning projection of LIVE2TELL images on the New World Symphony’s WALLCAST. Survivors in attendance shared their personal stories with the audience, creating an evening of reflection, connection, and renewed commitment to ensuring their voices are never forgotten.

“These stories hold the weight of history and the wisdom of resilience,” said Laub. “As the last generation of survivors share their truths, we must ensure their legacy lives on—not just as a record of the past, but as a call to action for the future. LIVE2TELL is about honoring their courage and ensuring their voices reach new generations.”

The evening underscored the importance of LIVE2TELL’s mission, especially in an era when Holocaust awareness is at risk of diminishing. Recent studies highlight alarming statistics, including that 20% of Americans aged 18-29 believe the Holocaust is a myth.

LIVE2TELL is committed to countering such trends by presenting survivor narratives through a contemporary lens that resonates with younger audiences.
