Revel in the duende-filled, Afro-Cuban, jazzy composition by Martin Bejerano for AWAKENING by choreographer Justin Rapaport. Jazz trumpeter and composer Jean Caze premieres his new score ISSA and recent composition ZALE to accompany Peter London’s ASCENSION, whose opening night performance is dedicated to the late Regina Jollivette Frazier, a dear friend of PLGDC Inc.
Choreographer Kashia Kancey has teamed up once again with composer Cristina Moya-Palacios for the solo work IT’S FAR AWAY TODAY. “Choreographer in high demand” Jamar Roberts returns this season with his 2023 ballet AS AN OFFERING, with an original score by jazz trumpeter and composer Etienne Charles. London’s AFRICAN KING AND QUEENS is a daring collaboration with bassist and composer Kebra-Seyoun Charles.
CARMEN, inspired by Georges Bizet’s opera, is London’s unapologetically voluptuous, brutal and ravishing dance. Andrea Murillo, creator, performer and teacher, will premiere her potent work CISNES for two women, a tour de force of choreographic theater. London’s ode to our ancestors of the global African Diaspora features BLOOD, from his ballet INNER RITUAL. It will be preceded by a performance of EARTH.
