“TOLERANCES: The Fine Line of Architecture & Culture in Miami Beach”
a multi phase interactive chalk painting experience.
Deborah Desilets and CHALK4PEACE Project are seeking approval for the below mentioned project at the 43 Lincoln Road bollards as an arts awareness for Lincoln Road’s 50th Anniversary during the Conference of the American Institute of Architects Miami Beach, FLA June 9-13, 2010.
CHALK4PEACE, Inc. is the non-profit arts organization that guides the global chalk art project, CHALK4PEACE, the annual event about peace. CHALK4PEACE, Inc. has coordinated more than twenty-five on-site chalk painting events on both coasts for educational, municipal and corporate clients. All projects are designed to be interactive, where the public and/or specific teams create the art. CHALK4PEACE, Inc. lays out the templates for drawing on by the public and the project provides the chalk (see below).
CHALK4PEACE, Inc. proposes that an interactive art project take place in front of TOPA and the Convention Center, and along Lincoln Road utilizing the “Globes on Lincoln”.
(1) CHALK4PEACE will assist in the decoration of each of the 43 bollards on Lincoln Road with a chalk painted “50” that teams of young artists of all ages can then embellish with chalk, creating a colorful globe-al walkway of three-dimensional paintings. The bollards will each require 3 boxes of 36-48 count multi colored chalk pastels. A team of 3-5 people should be able to complete its project in 2-4 hours. And before rush hour on the pedestrian mall roads; all work completed by 9:30 am. A prize might be considered for the best or favorite globe. The Globes are a photo essay alone.
(2) In honor of the Design For the New Decade Conference, CHALK4PEACE, Inc. will also create with sidewalk chalk architectural scenes and structures of Miami, including a tribute to Morris Lapidus, creating the templates for a number of architectural landmarks that the public is invited to fill in with their hopes and dreams for an even greater Miami Beach.
All are invited to join together to complete the artworks. The material used, chalk, is temporary, 100% non-toxic, and washes off of surfaces, clothes and skin.
CHALK4PEACE, Inc. will undertake this venture with Deborah Desilets, Architect, Miami Beach, FLwho is the point person, organizer and facilitator for CHALK4PEACE, Inc. for this multiple tiered art project.
This is the launch of GLOBES ON LINCOLN as a community arts project similar to the Cow Parade in Chicago. This event is suitable for children of all ages, and welcomes families to join in this exciting event. Admission is free to the public.
