Jayaram Law, a prominent law firm dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts, is proud to announce “Making Miami,” an extraordinary public art exhibition that pays homage to Miami’s vibrant art scene from 1996 to 2012. This groundbreaking exhibition, accompanied by a book and a permanent digital archive, celebrates the remarkable contributions of nearly 50 Miami-based artists who lived and created during this transformative period.
Located in the heart of the Miami Design District, “Making Miami” features four meticulously curated indoor galleries that showcase the diverse works of these talented artists. The exhibition takes visitors on a captivating journey through the rich tapestry of Miami’s art history, capturing the essence of the city’s burgeoning art scene from the early 2000s.
As visitors explore each gallery, they will be immersed in a dynamic display of artwork that represents the unique voices and visions of Miami’s artistic community. From bold and vibrant paintings to thought-provoking sculptures, “Making Miami” offers a comprehensive snapshot of the artistic evolution that took place during this pivotal era.
Connecting the four indoor galleries is a meticulously curated Sculpture Garden, overseen by Katerina Llanes, featuring striking artworks by renowned Miami artists. Among the standout pieces are a mesmerizing sculpture by Daniel Arsham’s Snarkitecture, a captivating mural by street artist and painter Jan Stark, and a monumental inflatable creation by FriendsWithYou.
The Sculpture Garden serves as a focal point of the exhibition, providing visitors with a serene and contemplative space to engage with these magnificent works. From beautifully crafted sculptures to immersive installations, the garden showcases the versatility and innovation that define Miami’s artistic spirit.
In addition to the exhibition, “Making Miami” will offer a series of dynamic on-site programming. Visitors can discover artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, and performances that further enrich the experience and deepen their understanding of Miami’s art history.
“Making Miami” is not only a celebration of the city’s artistic past but also a testament to its ongoing commitment to fostering a thriving creative community. By showcasing the works of these Miami-based artists and providing a platform for dialogue and engagement, Jayaram Law aims to inspire future generations of artists and ensure that Miami’s art scene continues to flourish.
