Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Bruno Prada made waves by clinching their fourth successive Bacardi Cup victory, etching their names into the event’s legendary status.
The thrilling offshore breeze provided a challenging race track, forcing competitors to strategize and adapt their tactics throughout the day. The duo of Kusznierewicz and Prada demonstrated their mastery by skillfully maneuvering through changing conditions and maintaining their dominance.
Kusznierewicz and Prada had previously claimed victory in 2020, 2021, and 2022, establishing themselves as formidable contenders in the regatta. Their unparalleled achievement of four consecutive wins solidifies their place in the history books of the Bacardi Cup.
In the Melges 24 and J/70 races, Peter Duncan’s sailing team on ‘Raza Mixta’ emerged victorious, showcasing their talent and determination. Brian Keane’s ‘Savasana’ secured top honors in the J/70 class with a commendable fourth-place finish. The VX One and Melges 15 classes saw the overnight leaders maintain their positions, affirming their consistency and skill. The Flying Nikka 47 team dominated the 69F class, winning all but one race.
Expressing his pride and satisfaction with the event, Eddie Cutillas of Bacardi USA remarked, “We have had an outstanding event with a record line-up of entries and teams from twenty-seven nations. I could not be prouder of the effort we have put in to get this regatta to where it is.”

In the Star Class, the battle for the Bacardi Cup intensified during the final race, with eight teams vying for the coveted trophy. Ultimately, Kusznierewicz and Prada showcased their exceptional skills, overcoming challenges and securing victory. Their strategic choice to round the final upwind mark with a 30-second advantage propelled them to a commanding lead, leaving the other teams to contend for second and third place.
Reflecting on their remarkable accomplishment, Kusznierewicz conveyed his gratitude to his sailing partner Prada, acknowledging the joy and honor he experienced while sailing together. Prada, in turn, credited their success to their ability to manage external distractions and maintain focus throughout the competition.

Brian Porter’s team on ‘Full Throttle’ demonstrated consistent performance, securing third place.
Victor Diaz de Leon, tactician for ‘Raza Mixta,’ emphasized the team’s chemistry, strong sailing skills, and effective strategy as key factors in their success. The camaraderie and the enjoyable atmosphere of the event were also highlighted as contributing factors to their victory.
