LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, artist and performer Travis Scott announces that applications are open for $1 million in scholarships for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), who may be experiencing last-minute financial adversity and are in danger of not being able to graduate on-time. To be eligible for immediate support, applicants are asked to submit a two-minute video or a 500-word personal essay and a photo to apply for this scholarship opportunity. Applications are open now at cactusjack.foundation.

The Waymon Webster Scholarships are named for Travis’s grandfather, a former HBCU educator. Travis’s brother, Josh, was educated at an HBCU; his sister, Jordan, who runs this effort, is a Howard University student herself. Past recipients include students at Howard University, Morehouse College, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University, and Prairie View A&M University.

Travis Scott, founder of Project HEAL, issued the following statement: “I want students to know they can accomplish anything they set their mind to and that in a moment of financial uncertainty, we are here to help. I hope these scholarships will free them up to be as innovative and creative as they can be as they conclude one chapter of their lives and begin another. Money should not be a barrier for students to dream big.”

Daniel Moss, HBCU Foundation Executive Director, said: “Travis creates hope and makes a real difference with this project. On behalf of the 100 students who will be able to graduate, we are beyond grateful to Travis Scott for his continued commitment to academic excellence for HBCU students.”
