“Steamy Tennessee” LIVE Play Reading!
Directed by David Tawil
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
“This is Maggie The Cat. . .”
The MBC Tennessee Williams retrospective closes with a live play reading of the searing American Classic of greed and sexual frustration and its effect on a prominent Southern family. “Big Daddy” is the family patriarch. Maggie is the rejected wife, and her husband is an alcoholic and powerless as both a husband and son. In typical Williams fashion, things unravel as the family gets together for Big Daddy’s 65th birthday, and secrets are revealed, lies unfold, and frustrations are on fire like “a cat on a hot tin roof”!
Maggie: “You know what I feel like? I feel all the time like a cat on a hot tin roof.”
Brick “Then jump off the roof, Maggie. Jump off it. Cats jump off roofs and land uninjured. Do it. Jump!”
Maggie: “Jump where? Into what?”
This is not the film. It is a LIVE play reading.
Reading cast to be announced soon!
