Bloomingdale’s continues the fight to increase awareness for a cure for breast cancer during the month of October by partnering with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), The Cancer Vixen Fund at Beth Israel Hospital, and The Tutu Project™ benefiting The Carey Foundation. The retailer will excite customers with exclusive merchandise, special events, and unique promotions to help raise funds for a cure in-store.
Since the beginning of the Bloomingdale’s Pink campaign in 2005, $6.5 million has been raised for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. Last year alone, Bloomingdale’s shoppers helped the retailer donate $1.8 million to the cause. This donation funds BCRF research grants of five astonishing researchers, including Dr. Marc Lippman of the University of Miami.
Going Pink
Give Pink, Get More – Bloomingdale’s card holders will have the opportunity to opt into this feel-good program from October 1 – November 3, 2013 for a $15 donation, 100% of which will benefit the retailer’s partners. By joining Give Pink, Get More, shoppers can receive up to $250 in gift cards just in time for the holiday shopping season.
The Little Pink Card – It’s the gift card that keeps on giving with a double donation to BCRF. Bloomingdale’s donates 10% of the value on your Little Pink Card, plus 10% of purchases made with this card above the original amount. Donations will be made on cards purchased 9/15-10/31/13 and redeemed 9/15-12/31/13.
The Little Pink Bag – A reusable tote, inspired by Bloomingdale’s iconic brown bag, available in-store and online throughout the month of October and retails for $20 with $2 from every sale donated to the work of the three organizations.
Words With Friends “Fight to Win” T-shirt by Aqua – Bloomingdale’s and Zynga are partnering to launch a limited-edition Words With Friends “Fight to Win” tee by Aqua punctuated with “QI” letter tiles. A Chinese term for life force and vital energy, “QI” is the most-played word in the game because of its point value and its feature on the tee is a relevant reminder to face life’s challenges with strength. The tee will be available exclusively at Bloomingdale’s stores and bloomingdales.com/pinktee starting September 30 through October 31. Retailing for $24, $8 from every shirt purchased at regular price will be donated to the partner organizations.
Celebrate Pink
Meet the Artists Who Are Making A Difference – On Thursday, October 17 from 6-9pm, shoppers at Bloomingdale’s Aventura will have the unique opportunity to meet two innovative artists who are redefining breast cancer awareness campaigns, and whom the retailer is proud to support. Marisa Acocella Marchetto, cartoonist, author of Cancer Vixen (published by Knopf), and founder of The Cancer Vixen Fund which aims to empower women undergoing treatment at Beth Israel Comprehensive Center in New York City, has partnered with Bob Carey, a commercial and fine art photographer and co-founder of The Tutu Project™, which serves women with breast cancer and their families via The Carey Foundation, to meet Bloomingdale’s customers and share more about their respective organizations that support the fight to end breast cancer.
In addition, Marisa and Bob will join 20 Miami fashion bloggers for the “Bloggers & Bloomingdale’s Against Breast Cancer” fashion show at 7pm in Y.E.S. on level 2 featuring pink merchandise that gives back to the cause, including a special collection by Peace Love World. Portraits of the participating bloggers rocking their favorite pink Peace Love World looks will be unveiled during the event as part of a collaboration between Annie Vazquez of TheFashionPoet.com and photographer Alexander Tamargo of Alta Images called “Fashion For A Cause.” From 6-9pm, customers can meet our special guests and enjoy hair styling by SoBlo BloDry Bar in Aventura and refreshments by Perrier, PinkBerry and BunnieCakes.
