2024 Little Haiti Book Festival

Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Miami Book Fair and Sosyete Koukouy of Miami will once again team up to present the Little Haiti Book Festival, offering author presentations, booksellers, live performances and other events centered on Haitian culture and heritage on May 5 (in-person) and May 19 (online). The festival is free and open to the public.

The Little Haiti Book Festival will take place in-person on Sunday, May 5, at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, providing a vibrant platform for authors, artists, and community leaders to share their work and insights. The festival will feature readings and discussions by acclaimed Haitian authors, with simultaneous English translation available. A vibrant marketplace will be filled with exhibitors, food vendors and a mini book fair featuring local authors and publishers with books in English, Haitian Creole, and French.

There will also be panels and workshops, as well as music by DJ Nickymix, comedy by Paul Julmeus, dance performance by NSL Dance Ensemble and live music and performance by Tati Nuzi and friends, among other artists. Children’s activities will include storytelling, drumming, artmaking with GOGO MOAD artists, games, free books, meditation, yoga and more!

The Little Haiti Book Festival will go virtual on Sunday, May 19, offering a reprise of the in-person panels on “Artificial Intelligence in the Arts: Empowering Writers, Content Creators, and Businesses in the Digital Age” and “Haiti in the Media: Navigating Narratives of Haiti in Global Media.”

The festival is presented by the Miami Book Fair and Sosyete Koukouy, both committed to promoting diverse voices, fostering cultural exchanges, and celebrating the contributions of Haitian authors, artists, and performers.
