The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County’s signature FREE FAMILY FEST series closes its 2016-2017 season with an out-of-this-world performance by MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT LEADERS ORCHESTRA. The concert will feature classic mystical soundtracks from family-favorite space movies, including Star Trek, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Apollo 13 and Star Wars. South Florida’s young audience members will also be introduced to various elements of the orchestra throughout the performance, engaging them in a unique, interactive learning experience.

MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT LEADERS ORCHESTRA will take the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall stage with guest conductor and director of the FIU Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Raffaele Livio Ponti, on Saturday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Founded in 2008 by Maestro James Judd, MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT has been featured in FREE FAMILY FEST since 2009. The Leaders Orchestra is comprised of MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT’s most talented 13-18 year old musicians who receive coaching through individual lessons, sectional rehearsals and chamber ensembles by Teaching Artists. Masterclasses with guest artists and leadership skills development opportunities are also provided. Students perform the highest caliber repertoire at prestigious venues across Miami-Dade.

MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT strives to bring the values of community, sharing, and teamwork to their students by using music as an instrument for empowering children. The organization establishes chapters in neighborhoods throughout Miami where children are provided tuition-free music education, striving to break barriers such as socio-economic status, culture, language, age and creed.
