Lenore Rosenberg, the highly regarded associate artistic administrator of the Metropolitan Opera, will appear in a public masterclass on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7:30 pm, at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Coral Gables, Florida. Rosenberg’s masterclass, presented by Florida Grand Opera and Steinway Piano Gallery Miami, marks the final installment of FGO’s SongFest Masters Series for the 2016-17 season.
On May 9, Rosenberg will be working with four members of Florida Grand Opera‘s Young Artist Program: soprano Elena Galván, mezzo-soprano Melissa Fajardo, tenor Benjamin Werley, and bass-baritone Calvin Griffin.
“Lenore is very astute about young singers, what they need to work on, and the direction in which they need to go,” says Susan T. Danis, General Director and CEO of Florida GrandOpera. “Her appearance on our Masters Series will be a wonderful opportunity for our Young Artists, and for voice students at Miami’s universities, to learn how to improve their chances of landing future jobs.”
A member of the Metropolitan Opera‘s artistic staff since 1985, Lenore Rosenberg is responsible for casting secondary roles and covers throughout the Met season.
In addition to being one of the opera industry’s leading authorities on casting, she is one of the most respected figures on the international singing competition circuit. Rosenberg has served on the juries of the Belvedere Competition in Vienna, the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest in Barcelona, the Montserrat Caballé Competition in Andorra, the Renata Tebaldi Competition in San Marino, the Luciano Pavarotti Competition in Modena, and the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, among many others.
In New York, she has been a juror for the Metropolitan Opera
National Council Auditions, the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation International Vocal Competition, the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, and the Giulio Gari Foundation International Vocal Competition.
Rosenberg’s résumé also includes stints as director of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and as music administrator of Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina.
She holds degrees in voice from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has made appearances as a Visiting Artist at a number of the most prestigious universities and conservatories in the United States.
