MATTHEW KENNEY TO OPEN PLANT FOOD + WINE MIAMI: PLANT-BASED, VEGAN AND RAW CUISINE, FEBRUARY 29

unnamed-112Chef and restaurateur Matthew Kenney is pleased to announce the opening of his latest plant-based eatery, Plant Food + Wine Miami, opening on Monday, February 29, 2016.

Located at The Sacred Space Miami in the Wynwood Arts District, Plant Food + Wine is a cutting edge plant-based restaurant. The restaurant’s vibrant menu blends innovative technique with seasonal, local produce, and includes many of Kenney’s classic raw food dishes. Miami’s tropical climate and its broad cultural influences are ideally suited for the restaurant’s clean, modernist approach. The mission of Plant Food + Wine is to offer health and wellness through delicious food in a luxurious environment.

“Plant Food + Wine Miami is the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever worked on,” said Kenney. “The space is absolutely stunning and a perfect match to the energy, beauty and flavors of this city. Guests will experience local ingredients, spices and dishes in a way they haven’t before; we’re thrilled to bring our plant-based cuisine to Miami.”

Scott Winegard, Chef and Director of Culinary Operations for all Matthew Kenney Cuisine restaurants, has crafted the menu to appeal to vegan diners as well as those who simply want to incorporate more plant-based meals into their lives. Sample items from the Plant Food + Wine menu include light, refreshing appetizers such as the Watermelon Poke with ponzu-lime, tamari, macadamia, ginger and mint, and various small plates, including Romanesco Cauliflower with salsa verde, toasted pepita cream, and preserved lime. Large plate offerings will include Black Pepper Kelp Noodles with sunflower cream, spicy greens, green olive puree, and sundried olives, and Coconut Ceviche “Tacos” made of sunflower chorizo, avocado, pico de gallo and lime crema. Not to be overlooked, the dessert menu will have seasonal and varied offerings with local fruits, including Compress Pina, a coconut sorbet with candied macadamia and basil consommé.

Plant Food + Wine will feature an extensive bar serving juices and detox beverages, cocktails based on seasonal ingredients, and a broad list of organic and biodynamic wine and sake.

Plant Food + Wine was developed in partnership with Karla Dascal, founder of The Sacred Space Miami, a complex for personal growth and transformation located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District. The restaurant is located adjacent to Matthew Kenney Culinary Miami, a state-of-the-art raw food culinary school, attended by students from around the world, which opened in January, 2015.

Designed by renowned contemporary architect Rene Gonzalez, Plant Food + Wine and Matthew Kenney Culinary’ s stunning interiors are fresh and light to reflect the Miami setting. The dining room features an airy, contemporary environment with full view of the bright exhibition kitchen as well as view of the Academy teaching kitchen, visible through a series of glass partitions. Tiger oak floors and reflective bronze mirrors accent the interior space, and floor to ceiling glass windows open to fully merge the space with the outdoors.

The stunning patio is located under palm trees and surrounds a reflecting pool, embracing the natural serenity of this vibrant concept while adding coveted outdoor seating. Both of the indoor and outdoor rooms possess different elements that contribute to the multi-sensory experience of this series of indoor/outdoor spaces of The Sacred Space.

Matthew Kenney Culinary Miami offers a variety of programs emphasizing the art of raw and plant-based cuisine. The Academy was created to meet the increasing interest in plant-based cuisine and the art of its preparation. The curriculum employs a modern, creative approach structured so that students build on their techniques as they progress through courses, executing innovative raw and vegan cuisine at the highest level while expanding their skillset. The program’s extensive, refined instruction is based on structured and classic building blocks of culinary programs and a multitude of experience and passion.
