I AM MIAMI at Microtheater

February 14th to March 17th at 8 pm

Centro Cultural Español and Microtheater Miami present I am Miami, an exciting new season which forms part of the award-winning project Macro Directors for Microtheater Miami. I am Miami, written and directed by Spanish award-winning, internationally acclaimed Spanish director Lucia Miranda, brings to life the biography of the city, with an inside look at its diversity and complexity through its people.

This theatre season offers plays in English and Spanish with seven original 15 minute plays presenting, “verbatim”,” real stories of love, immigration, passion, survival and more. The season begins with a special opening on February 14th at 8pm where the real people will attend and see his/her story live on stage for the first time. Enjoy this must-see season Thursdays and Sundays from 8pm to 11pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm to 12am., from February 14th to March 17th.

The plays are performed concurrently, every half hour, eight times per night, inside shipping containers at the Microtheater Miami Patio, 1490 Biscayne Blvd., Miami FL 33132.

For such a challenging and new approach, Centro Cultural Español chose Lucia Miranda because her career has been characterized by her close approach to the communities. Lucia has worked with different groups of people in several countries, from Brazil to NYC, from Argentina to Ecuador, from schools to indigenous communities, creating her own vision of theater, always based on the real testimonies of the people she has interviewed. Lucía has earned several awards such as El Ojo Crítico Award of Theatre 2018, the ONU Woman Award of Latin America 2014, the Award for Young directors of Spain (2013) or the HOLA Award and the ACE Award for The Best Show in Spanish in New York (2011).
