Hospice Open Charity Golf Tournament Set for September 28

unnamed-93The countdown is on for the Hospice Open Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for Monday, September 28, at Parkland Golf & Country Club. Attendees will support their local hospice services and enjoy the day on a great course.

The event marks an important joint effort for Hospice by the Sea Foundation and Hospice of Broward County Foundation, since the hospice organizations combined in 2014. Once competitors, Hospice by the Sea and Hospice of Palm Beach County and Broward County now serve the community together as TrustBridge Health.

In addition to the tournament, participants will be able to enjoy lunch, an awards cocktail reception and a silent auction.

A Parkland resident and young entrepreneur, event chairman Luke Freeman has been instrumental in creating the fundraiser, while taking on the mission of hospice as his personal cause.

“When I was introduced to the specific benefits of non-profit hospice care in Broward County, it was enlightening,” said Freeman. “This event will help to fund outstanding services such as extensive grief support programs for children and adults, music therapy, integrative therapies, caregiver programs, and numerous others not covered by the Medicare hospice benefit. These services would not be possible without community support.”

Freeman knows first-hand just how valuable hospice care is.

“I’ve had both personal and professional experience with hospice care. It’s a tremendous blessing to both the patient and their family. The services provided are delicate in nature, but the care is dignified and heart-felt.”

The field will be limited to the first 100 golfers who register. For tickets and information, please contact Lauryn Barry at (561) 494-6887 or lbarry@hpbcf.org  or visit www.hpbcf.org/hospice open.
