Global Entertainment & Sports Law + Industry Symposium

WHEN: Thursday and Friday, April 4 and 5, 2019.

Global Entertainments & Sports Law + Industry” is the focus of the annual event by the University of Miami School of Law’s Entertainment and Sports Law Society and LL.M. in Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law. Topics include issues facing the NFL general counsels, sexual harassment in the sports industry, and athletes as entrepreneurs.

The Entertainment and Sports Law Society hosted its first conference in 1997. Since then, it has grown into a full-scale event where law students and professionals take part in a forum to discuss current legal issues in sports, entertainment, intellectual property, the arts, and the media. Some of the most well-known local and national attorneys, faculty, agents, legal advisers, athletes, and entertainers serve as panelists, lead Q-and-A sessions, and foster academic debate. Additionally, the conference offers students a venue to network with professionals in careers of interest and it enables alumni and local firms to connect with aspiring attorneys and agents.

WHO: Speakers at this year’s conference include Horacio Gutierrez, general counsel and vice president of Business and Legal Affairs at Spotify; Peter Guelli, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Charlotte Hornets; Sally Ng, vice president of Business and Legal Affairs at NBC Universal Networks International; and Myles Pistorius, senior vice president and general counsel of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium.
