Over the course of this period and especially on the days of events in North Beach listed above, we can expect heavy traffic and crowds as well as street closures. MIAMI BEACH PREPAREDNESS:
At the meeting, various city departments presented their preparedness plan. The city is working with the county and surrounding towns to bring significant additional police presence and administrative and emergency personnel during this period to manage expected crowds and direct traffic. They indicated a commitment to keep traffic moving on Collins Avenue and Indian Creek, however, urged residents to plan accordingly for congestion.
They indicated that safety of residents is a priority and have back up plans for any life safety or other emergencies that may happen during events and heavy congestion periods. They also urged residents to say something if they see something. For crime, call 911. For non-crime and flood reporting call public works at (305) 673-7625. If you see something, say something.
Parks, Facilities, Fleet and Beaches:
● Enhanced park maintenance.
● Expanded park ranger staffing during watch parties.
● Refreshed painting of beachfront restrooms.
● Upgraded landscaping along key corridors.
● Increased Janitorial staffing to maintain elevated cleanliness during tournament period.
Parking and Transportation:
● Enhanced staffing to support parking enforcement.
● Real-time traffic monitoring and adjustment of traffic signals.
● Enhanced Miami Beach Trolley service during key game days and events.
● Free Special Event Water taxi service:
o Thursday, June 11, 2026 12pm to 11pm from Venetian Marina to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park with free shuttle service to/from Lummus Park.
o Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19, 2026 10am to 11pm from Venetian Marina to Maurice Gibb Memorial Park with free shuttle service to/from Miami Beach Bandshell.
Public Works:
● Coordinating to ensure any infrastructure improvement projects are completed ahead of events.
● Closing out expired permits.
● Allowing only critical projects that are pre-approved and deemed essential to City operations on major thoroughfares.
● Construction moratorium, citywide, during key event periods.
Fire and Police:
● $2.6MM FEMA grant.
● Enhanced staffing plans leveraging regional collaboration among public safety agencies.
● Monitoring additional activations that may occur at hotels and commercial corridors.
● Training and preparedness exercises focused on major event response, evacuation, public safety communication and interagency coordination.
