Bud Light is prepping 50 concerts in all 50 States on the same day (Aug. 1) for an event dubbed 50/50/1 that will kick off Their campaign: “Bud Light Music First.” For Florida it will be Metric performing at the Fillmore Miami Beach. Metric is a band with an eclectic, adventurous outlook, whose music encompasses elements of synth pop, new wave, dance-rock, and electronica. Metric consists of vocalist Emily Haines (who also plays the synthesizer and guitar), guitarist James Shaw (who also plays the synthesizer and theremin), bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key. Their first full-length album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, earned a Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album. Their next effort, Live It Out, was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize for the Canadian Album of The Year and once again the Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album. Fantasies, the first album released internationally on their own label, became the group’s most successful effort to date, selling over a million singles and 500,000 albums worldwide, going platinum in Canada, and spawning a Top 20 single on the American rock charts and all without the benefit of a label. Fantasies earned Metric “Album of the Year” and “Band of the Year” at the Canadian Juno Awards, and the band finished with their music featured in two major Hollywood films including Scott Pilgrim vs The World and the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The Twilight soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy Award. Their fifth full-length studio album Synthetica. released last year, was sonically futuristic yet organic. The album sounds like the culmination of all the music the band has made in their 10 years together.
