FRANKENSTEIN at the Gables Cinema

The Coral Gables Art Cinema continues its series “Live from the National Theatre of London” of special event broadcasts from the U.K. of performances by this renowned company with Frankenstein, which plays this Saturday & Sunday, June 23 & 24 at 1:00 pm. A new play, by Nick Dear, based on Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein is directed by acclaimed film director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and stars 2012 “Best Actor” Olivier Award joint winners Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, Sherlock) and Jonny Lee Miller (Hackers, Trainspotting and star of this fall’s Elementary).

Each performance is captured live and presented in digital high-definition projection providing audiences with an extraordinary close-up view of these world-class productions. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with  cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal in the engrossing play Frankenstein. The Daily Telegraph raves it’s “…a thrill. The most viscerally exciting and stunning show in town.” Watch a trailer for Frankenstein here .

The play runs two hours with no intermission. Special event ticket prices are $16 and under and are currently available for purchase in advance at Movietickets here for 6/23 (with Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘The Creature’ and Jonny Lee Miller as ‘Victor Frankenstein’) and here for 6/24 (reverse casting), and in person at the box office during regular screening hours.
