The Porch — Triumphal Arch Installation at Bakehouse

The Porch reimagines the traditional triumphal arch through the architecture and social culture of Miami. Created by Elmer O. García and Olga Kusche-Iglesias, the structure is constructed from aluminum tubing and reconfigured lawn-chair components, incorporating shade, seating, and patterned elements recalling Miami's residential security grilles. Selected through the Triumphal Arch Open Call in collaboration with Paris-based architecture practice Coldefy, The Porch marks the entrance to Bakehouse's community garden. García and Kusche-Iglesias teach at FIU's School of Architecture.
