About This Event

As part of the yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Miami Springs in 1926, the city hosts its 3rd Annual Vintage Motorcycle and Car Show at Circle Park. The event is a tribute to Glenn Curtiss — founder of Miami Springs, pioneering aviator, and the fastest man on earth in 1908 after riding a motorcycle he designed at 136 miles per hour. A replica of that historic motorcycle will be on display. Proceeds benefit the Fathers Against Fentanyl Foundation. The show is the final event in a series celebrating Miami Springs' centennial, which has included a historical display at Miami International Airport, an evening of jazz at the Curtiss Mansion, a plaque ceremony honoring senior citizens, and a choreographed light and drone show at the Miami Springs Golf Course. In August, the city unveiled a life-size bronze statue of Glenn Curtiss and the June Bug Legacy Monument in Town Square. Curtiss is called the 'Father of U.S. Naval Aviation' — his Jenny planes and Curtiss flying boats were used extensively by the Navy in World War I. He also founded the first flying school in Miami, Florida's first Porsche dealership, and established the cities of Opa Locka and Hialeah. For sponsorship opportunities, call (305) 761-3338.
