Tim Reynolds said it plainly: "The guitar is a conversation that never ends. Every time I pick it up I find something I haven't heard before. That's wh…" — and Premier Guide Miami was in the room when it happened.
Tim Reynolds is best known to millions as the acoustic guitar partner of Dave Matthews, but his own project TR3 reveals a musician of extraordinary range — blending rock, jazz, blues, and world music into something entirely his own.
Premier Guide Miami sat down with Reynolds ahead of a South Florida TR3 performance to talk about his musical philosophy and his long creative partnership with Matthews.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: TR3 gives you a very different platform than your work with Dave Matthews. What does that freedom mean to you?
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
TIM REYNOLDS: The guitar is a conversation that never ends. Every time I pick it up I find something I haven't heard before. That's what keeps me playing. TR3 lets me follow that conversation wherever it goes.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: How would you describe your musical relationship with Dave Matthews after all these years?
TIM REYNOLDS: It's one of the most natural things in my life. We don't have to talk about what we're going to do — we just play, and it works. That kind of musical trust is rare, and I don't take it for granted for a single second.
