A Colombian Filmmaker's New York Debut Is Playing in Miami Right Now.
The Scout, the debut feature from Colombian filmmaker Paula González-Nasser, is playing at Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami through October 13. The Tribeca premiere follows a location scout through a single day in New York City — and it earned a New York Times rave and a Variety nod on the way out.

The Scout is one of those films that arrives quietly and earns its reputation through word of mouth. Paula González-Nasser's debut feature — which premiered at Tribeca and was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2025 — is playing at Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami through Tuesday, October 13.
The film follows Sofia, a location scout for a TV pilot filming in New York City. Over the course of a single day, she moves through the city's neighborhoods, photographing strangers' apartments and shops, stepping into the fabric of their lives while managing the demands of erratic employers. The New York Times called it "evocative... a work of fine-grained realism." Variety called it "an under-the-radar gem."
González-Nasser knows the territory firsthand — she worked as a location scout on High Maintenance, Russian Doll, Search Party, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, and other New York productions before making this film. That specificity shows.
