Hard Rock Live in Hollywood has hosted some of the most memorable nights in South Florida's concert history. Teddy Swims on May 9 added another one to the list.
Teddy Swims played Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on May 9, and the Georgia soul singer delivered a 24-song set that confirmed his standing as one of the most compelling live performers to emerge from the post-pandemic era. The show moved through his catalog with the emotional directness that has made him a genuine phenomenon, and the Hard Rock Live crowd was with him from the first note to the last. He opened with "Not Your Man" and moved through "Hammer to the Heart," "Apple Juice," "She Loves the Rain," and "Are You Even Real" before "Devil in a Dress," "Bad Dreams," and "It Ain't Easy" gave the set its emotional center. "Funeral," "What More Can I Say," "911," and "Black & White" preceded "If You Ever Change Your Mind" and an ILLENIUM cover of "All That Really Matters" that the crowd received as warmly as any original. "Some Things I'll Never Know," "Northern Lights," "Guilty," "Tell Me," and a Kings of Leon cover of "Use Somebody" preceded "Your Kind of Crazy" and the closing "Lose Control," which drew the night's biggest singalong. The encore brought "Bed on Fire," "Goodbye's Been Good to You," and "The Door" — a closing sequence that ended the night with the kind of quiet, earned emotion that only a singer of genuine ability can produce.
