Tamsin Egerton said it plainly: "Guinevere has been played so many times, but I think she's always been slightly misunderstood. She's not just a love int…" — and Premier Guide Miami was in the room when it happened.
Starz's Camelot reimagined the Arthurian legend with a raw, visceral energy that set it apart from previous adaptations. At the center of that reimagining was Tamsin Egerton's Guinevere — a character the British actress brought to life with intelligence, sensuality, and surprising emotional depth.
Premier Guide Miami spoke with Egerton about the challenge of playing one of literature's most iconic women.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: Guinevere is one of the most written-about women in all of literature. How do you make her your own?
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
TAMSIN EGERTON: Guinevere has been played so many times, but I think she's always been slightly misunderstood. She's not just a love interest — she's a woman navigating an impossible situation with real intelligence. I wanted to find that woman and let her breathe.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: What was the most challenging aspect of the role?
TAMSIN EGERTON: The weight of expectation. Everyone has a version of Guinevere in their head. My job was to honor the legend while also making her feel completely alive and present. That's a tightrope walk every single day on set.
