Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.

In a world where nearly everything is designed to keep us connected, luxury developers are making room for places to unplug. From meditation gardens to sound domes, residential amenities are giving people space to step away from their screens and slow down. When it's harder than ever to disconnect, having a place to do so feels like a luxury.

A handful of South Florida projects are bringing this idea to life — each one carving out space for stillness in a region that rarely slows down.

Six South Florida Projects Making Room to Unplug

Mr. C Residences Boca Raton — The first branded residence project in Boca in over a decade offers plenty of ways to put the phone down, from an outdoor meditation area and yoga lawn to a sound dome in the spa. For a more social kind of screen break, residents can gather around the billiard and card tables in the lounge.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Fort Lauderdale Beach — Set between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, the development leans into its waterfront setting with spaces meant for slowing down. Residents can spend time in the meditation garden, unwind in the hammam, or settle into a private cabana by the pool — with no agenda beyond a little time away from their screens.

Continuum 12000 Sport & Wellness Residences — Billed as Miami's first wellness-focused waterfront residences, the project takes the idea onto the water with a floating yoga and meditation deck on Biscayne Bay. Back on land, residents have a studio for meditation and sound baths, and a hammam in the spa for anyone who would rather just sit in the steam.

Kempinski Residences Miami Design District — A few blocks from some of the city's busiest boutiques and galleries, the project makes room for quiet with a meditation garden and a spa with heated loungers. For a more social screen break, residents can head to the card room or the music room.

NoBe PARC Miami Beach — Set in walkable North Beach near the ocean and the neighborhood's parks, the project saves its calmest spaces for the rooftop. Residents can start the day on the sunrise yoga deck, then come back up in the evening for the Zen relaxation area and a private cabana as the sun goes down.

Continuum Club & Residences West — Rising from a small island in the middle of Biscayne Bay, the tower's private resident club includes tropical reading nooks and firepit lounges built for doing very little. Residents can also slip into the library with a book or gather around the billiard table for an old-school game night.

Across all six projects, the through-line is the same: the most coveted amenity in South Florida luxury real estate right now isn't a rooftop pool or a private cinema. It's somewhere quiet to sit, breathe, and leave the phone in the other room.
