Sherri Shepherd said it plainly: "Laughter saved my life. I'm not being dramatic — it literally saved my life. When everything was falling apart, comedy w…" — and Premier Guide Miami was in the room when it happened.
Sherri Shepherd has worn many hats — stand-up comedian, actress, television personality, and single mother — and she has approached all of them with the same weapon: an irrepressible sense of humor. As a co-host of The View, she brought warmth, wit, and an unfiltered perspective to one of daytime television's most-watched programs.
Premier Guide Miami sat down with Shepherd to talk about juggling it all and what comedy has meant to her life.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: You've talked openly about some very difficult periods in your life. How has comedy helped you through those times?
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
SHERRI SHEPHERD: Laughter saved my life. I'm not being dramatic — it literally saved my life. When everything was falling apart, comedy was the thing that kept me standing. If I can laugh at it, I can survive it.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: What do you want people to take away from watching you on The View?
SHERRI SHEPHERD: That it's okay to be a work in progress. I don't have all the answers. I'm figuring it out just like everybody else. But I'm going to do it with joy, and I'm going to do it out loud.
