Rose McGowan said it plainly: "I've never been interested in playing it safe. Safe is boring. Safe doesn't change anything. I want to do work that matt…" — and Premier Guide Miami was in the room when it happened.
Rose McGowan has never been easy to categorize. From her breakout role in Scream to her long run on Charmed to her increasingly provocative public persona, she has consistently defied expectations and resisted the boxes Hollywood tried to put her in.
Premier Guide Miami spoke with McGowan about her approach to her career and what drives her creative choices.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: You've always seemed to gravitate toward roles that challenge the audience. Is that a conscious choice?
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
ROSE McGOWAN: I've never been interested in playing it safe. Safe is boring. Safe doesn't change anything. I want to do work that matters, that makes people feel something real — even if that something is uncomfortable.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: What do you look for when you're deciding whether to take a role?
ROSE McGOWAN: Truth. Is there something true in this character? Is there something I can bring to her that no one else can? If the answer is yes, I'm in. If it's just a paycheck, I'm not interested.
