Niki Taylor said it plainly: "After the accident, I had to relearn everything — how to walk, how to function. And through all of that I realized that …" — and Premier Guide Miami was in the room when it happened.
Niki Taylor rose to fame as one of the most recognizable supermodels of the 1990s, gracing the covers of hundreds of magazines and becoming a household name. But it was her survival of a near-fatal car accident in 2001 — and her extraordinary recovery — that revealed the depth of her character.
Premier Guide Miami sat down with Taylor to talk about her journey, her perspective on the fashion industry, and what she hopes to pass on to the next generation.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: The accident in 2001 was a turning point for you in so many ways. How did it change your relationship with your career?
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
NIKI TAYLOR: After the accident, I had to relearn everything — how to walk, how to function. And through all of that I realized that beauty is not what you look like. It's what you survive. That changed everything for me.
PREMIER GUIDE MIAMI: What do you want young women in the industry to know?
NIKI TAYLOR: That your value is not in your measurements or your age or what a photographer thinks of you on any given day. Your value is in who you are. The sooner you know that, the better your life will be.
