This Weekend's Geography
5 neighborhoodsEvery fall, Miami's philanthropic community emerges in full force — and the 2026–2027 season is no exception. From October through June, the city's ballrooms, museum terraces, and waterfront venues will host dozens of black-tie evenings raising millions for causes that define this city: children's health, the arts, housing, education, and the environment. This is your season preview.
October: The Season Opener
The season kicks off in earnest on October 10 with a double-header that sets the tone for everything that follows. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade host their Wild About Kids Gala — one of the city's most spirited evenings — while across town, the Nicklaus Children's Hospital Foundation presents the 19th Annual Diamond Ball, a cornerstone of South Florida's pediatric philanthropy calendar.
Mid-October brings the Coral Gables Community Foundation's La Dolce Notte on October 16, celebrating 35 years of community investment with an Italian-inspired evening. Chapman Partnership's Illuminations Gala follows on October 17, honoring the organization's work transforming lives through shelter and wraparound services for Miami's homeless population.
October closes with two marquee evenings on the 24th: Baptist Health South Florida Foundation's Grand Gala — one of the most anticipated nights on the South Florida calendar — and Guitars Over Guns' Choose Your Sound: Everybody Dance Now 90s Gala, a high-energy celebration of music mentorship for underserved youth.
November: The Heart of the Season
November is where the season reaches full stride. On November 5, the Frost Museum of Science hosts An Evening of Discovery: The Science Behind Pixar — a rare evening where art, science, and philanthropy converge at one of Miami's great cultural institutions on Biscayne Bay.
November 7 is the most crowded night of the season, with four major galas on the same evening: PAMM's Art of the Party at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Make-A-Wish InterContinental Miami Ball, the Beaux Arts Ball, and Americans for Immigrant Justice's 30th Anniversary Gala. It's a testament to the depth of Miami's philanthropic community that the city can sustain four major events on a single night.
The month closes with the 69th Annual Vizcaya Ball on November 21 — arguably the most storied evening in Miami's social calendar. Set on the grounds of the 1916 Italian Renaissance villa on Biscayne Bay, the Vizcaya Ball is in a category of its own.
December Through Spring: The Long Game
Camillus House's Hope for All Gala on December 5 closes out the fall calendar before the season resumes in January with YoungArts Miami Gala (January 9), the WDNA Jazz Gala (January 15), and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden's Splendor in the Garden (January 21).
February brings the New World Symphony's 39th Anniversary Gala at the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center on Miami Beach — one of the most elegant evenings in the performing arts calendar. The season runs through June with Habitat for Humanity's Hard Hats & High Heels and the United Way Mayor's Ball rounding out a remarkable year of giving.
A City That Shows Up
What makes Miami's gala season remarkable isn't just the scale — it's the consistency. Year after year, this city's business leaders, philanthropists, and community champions show up for the organizations doing the hardest work: caring for sick children, housing the homeless, mentoring youth, preserving culture, and protecting the environment. The season is a reminder of what Miami, at its best, looks like.
