Miami Design District Fall 2026: Harmony Korine, Breast Cancer Awareness, Katy Hessel, and More

The Miami Design District is closing out September and heading into fall with a lineup of art conversations, wellness activations, fashion events, and intimate dining experiences. Here's what's on the calendar at 140 NE 39th Street and the surrounding district through October.

On Friday, September 26, the District hosts its monthly Public Art Tour — a free guided walk through the neighborhood's world-class collection of permanent and temporary public art installations, sculptures, and architectural façades. Also on September 26, the Miss Happy Zine Print Fair — Dále Zine brings independent zine makers and print artists to the district for a one-day fair celebrating independent publishing and visual culture.

On Thursday, October 1, two landmark events take place simultaneously. At ICA Miami (61 NE 41st Street), legendary filmmaker and artist Harmony Korine joins entrepreneur and philanthropist Craig Robins and ICA Miami director Alex Gartenfeld for a conversation from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. The talk takes place in conjunction with Harmony Korine: Perfect Nonsense — the first U.S. museum survey of Korine's multifaceted practice spanning cinema, painting, photography, collage, drawing, and experimental media. Since entering the public consciousness at nineteen as the screenwriter of Kids (1995), Korine has continually expanded the language of cinema. The conversation will explore his ongoing experiments with new technologies and forms, and the influence of Miami — his home since 2015 — on his recent work through the experimental media company EDGLRD. Also on October 1, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Celebration takes place at Palm Court from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Join Angeles Almuna, founder of Fashion Strikes Cancer, and Dawn Feinberg, founder of Ahana Yoga, for an evening of movement, community, and purpose. The evening begins with a special yoga class in Palm Court, followed by the Annual Pink Dome Lighting — the iconic Buckminster Fuller Fly's Eye Dome illuminated in pink. On Saturday, October 3, John Hardy brings Master Artisans visiting from its Bali Workshop to the Design District (140 NE 39th St, Space 124) for Meet the Artisans from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Guests can watch live chain weaving and wax carving demonstrations, enjoy personalized styling, and meet the craftspeople behind the jewelry. On October 10 and 11, Happy Isles and Manolo Blahnik host a two-day bridal event at Manolo Blahnik (140 NE 39th Street, Suite 111). On Saturday, October 10, semi-private bridal shopping appointments offer curated vintage clothing and Manolo Blahnik bridal styles by appointment. On Sunday, October 11, the Happy Isles shopping suite opens to the public on the top floor of Manolo Blahnik from noon to 6:00 p.m.

On Sunday, October 18, art historian and bestselling author Katy Hessel brings her celebrated book The Story of Art Without Men: An Illustrated Guide to Amazing Women Artists to ICA Miami for a special family book talk at 11:30 a.m. Through interactive discussion, drawing, and visual storytelling, Hessel invites families to participate in expanding the story of art history. Running through October 27, In Session with Michael Schwartz at Michael's Genuine (130 NE 40th St) is an intimate dinner series featuring a surprise seven-course menu personally prepared by James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Schwartz, paired with curated cocktails and wine by Beverage Director Amanda Fraga. Remaining dates: October 6 (Japan: walnuts, herbs, pomegranate, cheeses, breads, grilled meats, and bold sauces) and October 27 (Mexico: the flavors of Oaxaca, the Yucatán, and beyond — chiles, masa, smoke, citrus, achiote, moles, and seafood).
