The Latin Recording Academy has announced the second wave of performers for the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, and the list covers a wide range of what Latin music sounds like right now: Cristian Castro, Camila Fernández, Feid, Luis Figueroa, Fonseca, Grupo Frontera, Milo J, Niña Pastori, Reik, Sofía Reyes, Yami Safdie, and The Warning.
The performance everyone will be watching is the José Alfredo Jiménez centennial tribute. Jiménez, known as the King of Ranchero Music, was born 100 years ago and left behind a body of work that remains the gold standard for Regional Mexican music. The tribute will feature a generation-spanning lineup of artists breathing new life into his iconic songs, with Edgar Barrera serving as musical producer. Barrera leads this year's nominees with 10 nominations, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Producer of the Year.
Among the newly announced performers, Milo J arrives with the most nominations of any single artist in this wave — Album of the Year and Best Folk Album for La Vida Era Más Corta, Record of the Year for 'Niño,' Song of the Year for 'Solifican12,' and Best Urban Performance for 'Gil' featuring Trueno. Feid is nominated for Best Urban Performance, Best Reggaeton Performance with KAROL G, and Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song. Grupo Frontera is up for Best Norteño Album.
The 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, November 12. The telecast runs on Univision beginning at 8 PM ET/PT, preceded by a one-hour pre-show at 7 PM. Host is Roselyn Sánchez.
