Kimpton Just Launched a Global Food and Drink Platform — and Miami's Surfcomber Is Already on the Menu
The Curious Palate by Kimpton is a new worldwide F&B initiative built around secret menus, chef-led experiences, and a global collective of culinary talent. At Kimpton Surfcomber Miami, it means a fall cocktail menu pulling from the culture of South Beach.
Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
Kimpton has always believed a hotel restaurant should be worth a trip on its own. The brand's founder, Bill Kimpton, built that conviction into the company from the start, and now it has a formal name: The Curious Palate by Kimpton, a new global food and beverage platform that formalizes what Kimpton properties have been doing informally for decades.
The platform is built around a global collective of Kimpton chefs and bartenders, each bringing their own influences and obsessions to the table. The result is a system designed to feel unmistakably Kimpton but never exactly the same twice, with secret menus, unexpected pairings, chef-led dining experiences, visiting chef moments, and bartender pop-ups that can travel between properties.
The inaugural Table of Curiosity dinner, held at Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove against the Monterey coastline, gave a preview of what the platform can produce: a Hong Kong-inspired margarita, Saudi Arabian camel filet, and sea urchin risotto inspired by Tokyo, all in the same evening. Chefs from Riyadh, Bangkok, Tokyo, Barcelona, Nashville, and Grand Cayman were in the same kitchen.
For Miami, the local expression lands at Kimpton Surfcomber on South Beach. Through December 21, The Social Club is running a special fall cocktail menu rooted in the coastal culture of the neighborhood. The lead cocktail is The Toasted Flame, a combination of Rumchata, vanilla vodka, and cinnamon whiskey. It is exactly the kind of thing you order once and then order again.
Kimpton operates 90 properties globally with 67 more in development. More at kimptonhotels.com.
