The Miami Dolphins announced that co-founding member, principal co-songwriter, lead guitarist and co-producer of Aerosmith, Joe Perry , will be the main act at the Land Shark Tailgate Stage on the AT&T Grand Plaza on Sunday, December 6, prior to the Dolphins-Patriots game. The live performance begins at 12 noon.
Perry and his band will perform songs from his fifth solo CD Have Guitar, Will Travel , released in October 2009, including the album's first single "We've Got A Long Way To Go." Fans will also be treated to an exclusive rendition of Aerosmith's number one hit "Walk This Way," featuring a special guest appearance by singer, rapper, and producer T-Pain .
"I've tailgated up north a few times and it's hard cooking sausage with your fingers frozen," said Perry. "I'm looking forward to getting some ribs going in Miami and to being able to feel my fingers, which is always sure to help my performance."
Joining Perry on stage are bassist David Hull (Buddy Miles Band and Joe Perry Project in the '80s), keyboardist/guitarist Paul Santo (Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Ozzy Osbourne), drummer Marty Richards, and lead singer Hagen — discovered by Perry's wife on YouTube.
Perry's new hard-driving, self-written, self-produced 10-song collection follows solo releases including Let The Music Do The Talking (1980), I've Got The Rock 'N' Rolls Again (1981), Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker (1983), and 2005's Joe Perry , which earned Perry his first solo Grammy nomination.
The Land Shark Tailgate Stage has previously attracted artists including Jimmy Buffett, Carmit Bachar of the Pussycat Dolls, Latin Grammy award-winning artists Jesse & Joy, American Idol winner Kris Allen, and 2009 CMA Musician of the Year Mac McAnally.
The Land Shark Tailgate Stage delivered one of the most memorable pre-game moments in Dolphins history on December 6, 2009. Joe Perry and his band brought the AT&T Grand Plaza to life with a high-energy set from his solo album Have Guitar, Will Travel — and the crowd went electric when T-Pain stepped out for a live "Walk This Way." The game itself drew a star-studded crowd to the orange carpet: Larry King, Marc Anthony, and Jennifer Lopez were all spotted at the Dolphins-Patriots matchup, making it one of those only-in-Miami Sundays.
