Golden Gate Bridge: 75 Years of an American Icon

Golden Gate Bridge: 75 Years of an American Icon

As we approached San Francisco on our journey down the coast, the dense fog layer that cloaked the Golden Gate Bridge was beginning to slowly disappear. Gary and I watched in amazement as it uncovered layer after layer, revealing the sturdy rails of its magnificent, graceful, and artfully intriguing structure.

May 2012 marks 75 years since the bridge was completed. San Francisco will celebrate with a year-long series of events honoring this massive orange-red landmark — one of the most recognized structures in the world.
