Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
Hard Rock Live in Hollywood has hosted some of the most memorable nights in South Florida's concert history. Darius Rucker on July 19 added another one to the list.
Darius Rucker played Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on July 19, and the South Carolina singer-songwriter delivered a 22-song set that moved between his solo country catalog and the Hootie & the Blowfish material that first made him a household name — a balance that the crowd embraced with equal enthusiasm for both chapters of his career. He opened with "Life's Too Short" and moved through "Forever Road," "For the First Time," "Birds Knew," and "It Won't Be Like This for Long" before the Hootie classic "Only Wanna Be With You" drew the first full-room singalong of the night. "This," "Beers and Sunshine," "Better Place," and "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" preceded another Hootie classic, "Let Her Cry," before "If I Told You," "Homegrown Honey," and a Doobie Brothers cover of "Takin' It to the Streets" kept the energy high. "Southern State of Mind," "Radio," and the Hootie anthem "Hold My Hand" preceded "Come Back Song" and "Alright" closing the main set. The encore brought "Tracks," a Blackstreet cover of "No Diggity" that sent the room into a frenzy, and a closing Old Crow Medicine Show cover of "Wagon Wheel" that ended the night on a wave of collective joy. The Convergence: November in Miami
November is the month Miami stops pretending it is not the most interesting city in the country. The weather breaks. The calendar stacks. The polo ponies arrive on South Beach. Olivia Rodrigo plays two nights. Shakira closes the month at Kaseya. Miami Book Fair takes over Wolfson Campus. And Art Week is three weeks out — which means the reservation windows are already closing. Here is what we are watching.
On the Radar: November 2–8
GEMS closes out with Turturro and a Mike Leigh retrospective. The South Miami Art Festival takes over Sunset Drive. A 40-seat Syrian long table on Miami Beach is nearly full. GableStage opens Liberation. NASCAR Championship Weekend hits Homestead. And Tony Robbins takes over Kaseya for four days. This is the week the city shifts.
Inside the Room: Apotheke South Beach Opens With Three Nights of Celebration
Before the doors officially opened on October 30, Apotheke South Beach hosted three nights of exclusive celebrations — botanical cocktails, a prix fixe dinner at Naked Tomato, and a first look at the hidden lounge tucked behind an unmarked entrance on Washington Avenue.
The Best Place to Watch the NFL in Miami Is a Wine Bar on Coral Way
La Bibliothèque By Chèvre on Coral Way runs a Sunday NFL Experience every week through the season — live games in a curated wine bar setting with sommelier-selected pours, artisanal cheese boards, and limited seating. It is the most civilized way to watch football in South Florida.
