Project Runway's youngest winner brings his signature flair to beauty — Premier Guide Miami catches up with Christian Siriano at the Lincoln Road Victoria's Secret launch event for his new makeup line, endorsed by supermodel Adriana Lima.. Premier Guide Miami sat down to find out what that means — and what comes next.
Christian Siriano — fashion designer and the youngest winner of Project Runway's fourth season in 2008 — arrived in Miami Beach for a special event at the Victoria's Secret shop on Lincoln Road, celebrating the launch of his new makeup line. Christian Siriano for VS Makeup is endorsed by supermodel Adriana Lima, and the collection marks another bold move for a designer who has never been content to stay in one lane.
This is not new territory for Siriano. Among a long list of ventures — runway collections, a low-cost shoe line for Payless ShoeSource, collaborations with Puma, Bluefly, and Fierce Mamas — he has also worked as a freelance makeup artist for Stila Cosmetics. The Victoria's Secret partnership feels like a natural extension of that creative range.
The Lincoln Road event was well attended, with women getting their makeup done on the spot, purchasing products from the new line, and lining up for autographs. Siriano moved through it all with the focused energy of someone who thrives in the middle of the action. Premier Guide Miami managed to steal a few words with him between signings.
Love Miami covers the city's conversations — the interviews, the creative voices, the tastemakers and innovators who define South Florida's cultural identity. This is the pillar where Miami speaks for itself.
PGM: You are already doing a lot of things in the fashion world — what do you expect from this event?
Christian Siriano: Yes, I do a lot of different things. I love the fantasy of creation, of designing, of trying new things. With this event I am happy to see the immediate result of my work — women using the makeup line. I wanted a makeup line that is wearable, accessible, and fashionable. I love to create and it works. Now I am very excited about the next New York Fashion Week, and I cannot wait for my style guide — How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self — to launch in October 2009.
A few autographs and pictures later, Christian Siriano was already thinking about his next project. That relentless forward momentum, it turns out, is the most fashionable thing about him.
