Hard Rock Live in Hollywood has hosted some of the most memorable nights in South Florida's concert history. Bloc Party Ignites Hard on June 15 added another one to the list.
Following the euphoric performance from Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu, the stage was set, the lights dimmed, and the crowd's anticipation reached its peak as Bloc Party took the stage at Hard Rock Live on June 15, 2023. We were ready to party. Opening with their iconic hit "Banquet," Bloc Party wasted no time in establishing their dynamic presence. The energy that radiated from each member was palpable, instantly captivating the audience and setting the tone for a night of pure musical brilliance. Frontman Kele Okereke commanded the stage with his soulful crooning and impassioned bursts of raw energy. His vocals soared through the venue, captivating every ear as he belted out fan favorites like "Helicopter" and "This Modern Love." Guitarist Russell Lissack proved to be a force to be reckoned with, unleashing mesmerizing riffs and intricate melodies that sent shockwaves through the crowd. His musicianship was on full display as he flawlessly executed complex guitar solos, earning him well-deserved applause and admiration. Equally instrumental to the band's sound were bassist Justin Harris and drummer Louise Bartle, who provided a solid foundation for Bloc Party's infectious rhythms. Their tight-knit chemistry and impeccable timing created a pulsating energy that reverberated throughout the venue, keeping the crowd moving and grooving. While the band showcased their classic hits, they also treated fans to a taste of new material. Tracks like "Stunt Queen" and "Octopus" demonstrated Bloc Party's ability to continuously evolve their sound, keeping it fresh and relevant while still paying homage to their signature style. In a world where live performances are often diluted by excessive production and pre-recorded tracks, Bloc Party proved that raw talent and authenticity can still reign supreme. Their live experience was a refreshing reminder of the power of live music. It's not surprising that Bloc Party has garnered a loyal following throughout their career. Their ability to blend alternative rock, indie pop, and post-punk influences has solidified their place in the music landscape as innovators and trendsetters. I'm excited to find out what the future holds for this British powerhouse. GEMS closes out with Turturro and a Mike Leigh retrospective. The South Miami Art Festival takes over Sunset Drive. A 40-seat Syrian long table on Miami Beach is nearly full. GableStage opens Liberation. NASCAR Championship Weekend hits Homestead. And Tony Robbins takes over Kaseya for four days. This is the week the city shifts.
Inside the Room: Apotheke South Beach Opens With Three Nights of Celebration
Before the doors officially opened on October 30, Apotheke South Beach hosted three nights of exclusive celebrations — botanical cocktails, a prix fixe dinner at Naked Tomato, and a first look at the hidden lounge tucked behind an unmarked entrance on Washington Avenue.
The Best Place to Watch the NFL in Miami Is a Wine Bar on Coral Way
La Bibliothèque By Chèvre on Coral Way runs a Sunday NFL Experience every week through the season — live games in a curated wine bar setting with sommelier-selected pours, artisanal cheese boards, and limited seating. It is the most civilized way to watch football in South Florida.
