From Jan. 6-13, YoungArts welcomes more than 170 young artists from across the country for its signature program, National YoungArts Week. Selected by a panel of some of the nation’s leading artists, these dancers, singers, songwriters, jazz and classical musicians, filmmakers, designers, writers, visual artists and actors — all 15-18 years old — will participate in an intensive weeklong program that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and offers unparalleled guidance to prepare for a career in the arts.

Throughout the week, these promising artists work with master teachers such as Tony Award winning choreographer Bill T. Jones; world renowned tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo; architect Frank Gehry; jazz saxophonist Jimmy Heath; Academy Award winning writer Tarell Alvin McCraney; and contemporary artists Mickalene Thomas and Carrie Mae Weems .

Their work will culminate in nightly public performances and film screenings at New World Center and writers’ readings and a visual arts, photography and design exhibition at YoungArts’ campus. YoungArts Week is supported by the YoungArts National Premier Partner Carnival Foundation; the YoungArts Week Performance Partner SunTrust; the Design Arts Discipline Partner, Arquitectonica; the Visual Arts Discipline Partner, Related Group; Jay Franke and David Herro, Sandra and Tony Tamer; Miami-Dade County; Wells Fargo; The City of Miami Beach; Miami Downtown Development Authority; and the State of Florida.
